Cindy Pino

Graduate Student

I am a PhD student in Biological and Medical Informatics (BMI), focusing on the role microbes play in the human gut at the Pollard Lab. Previously, I worked as a Bioinformatics Programmer at UCSF Liver Center, collaborating with UCSF Genomics CoLab to develop high-throughput sequencing data analysis pipelines and workflows. I hold a BS in Molecular Environmental Biology with an emphasis in microbiology from UC Berkeley’s College of Natural Resources. Outside of my research, I enjoy dancing, hiking, and reading.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Outreach Activities

As a Latina in STEM, I am committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and take immense pride in advocating for and supporting minority women pursuing their dreams in the STEM fields. I was a UC LEADS and NSF CAMP LSAMPS fellow, and I participate in multiple outreach and mentorship programs to support and inspire the next generation of scientists.
