Akshita Saxena

Graduate Student
I am a PhD student in the Biological and Medical Informatics (BMI) program at UCSF. I grew up in Mumbai, India, and obtained my undergraduate degree at UCLA in 2023, where I majored in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology. Following this, I spent two years at the Gladstone Institutes in the Conklin lab as a research associate, working on a high-throughput screening and bioinformatics platform to develop allele-specific CRISPR therapies. In the Pollard lab, I am interested in exploring questions in disease-relevant regulatory genomics using machine learning. Outside of science, I enjoy playing music, doing fiber arts, and seeking out food to write home about.
